Sunday Silence
(Horsegears opinion only)
Forequarters:
Shorter forelimbs, mainly through the forearm, leaving a
slightly longer cannon, as compared to the standard
forelimb ratio. The arm shoots up at a sharper angle,
towards a likewise open shoulder joint. The blade may
lack a touch, and is of just an OK length, also with an
upright angle.. This combination leaves a shorter
distance between the horses chest and wither,
horizontally measured. As a result Sundays Silences fore
certainly possesses a consistent bias on the side of
strength/sprinting ability. Sunday Silence does appear
to have very well sloped pasterns, which do not appear
to ideally match his shoulder slope. The sloped pasterns
do help obtain some stride length from the forelimbs.
Core:
The girth depth is very deep, and
supports an even/ideal length back. A very good barrel
volume is the result. The deep girth matches the
strength orientated forequarters. The even length of the
back adds versatility.
Hindquarters:
A significantly longer and stronger croup provides
strength and superior short term power. Aiding Sunday
Silence endurance, are his proportions of the lower
hind, which add both stride length and a quicker re-coil
action.
Distance gearing:
(Puff factor) 1200 -
1700m (7 f)
Overview:
As we have seen with a number of Champions critiqued,
Sunday Silence possessed a higher proportion of
strength/sprinting traits, especially through the fore,
which provided him ample speed, of which he was also
able to maintain and extend of longer distances. His
very deep girth provided extended scope for lung
expansion, allowing a larger volume of air intake per
stride.. Although his core is excellent, his strength
appears to come for his powerhouse upper hind quarters,
highlighted by a long and nicely sloped croup. The
length of his croup is evident by analyzing his topline,
which it dominates.
