The top line - a racehorse contradiction

 

In racing circles stayers, have a reputation amongst some as having both sloping shoulders and long backs, and likewise, sprinters straight shoulders and short backs.

But as a expert in dressage type horse conformation will note, it is rare to see thoroughbreds with sloping shoulder AND a long back, or a straight shoulder AND a short back, as these two combinations would put the horse out of proportion as far as its own length x height ratios go,
